This beautiful beast of a state sitting right below Canada has more colors of green in its foliage, big pretty mountains and the people who camp out here “Come to PLAY!” as Sam says. We were the ONLY tent campers in the camp ground among a slew of BIG boats and trailers filled with friendly people, each with more firewood to burn than I saw in all of a CA campground put together. We were more careful about the weather and got a MASSIVE tarp that Sam was able to hang so not only did our tents not get wet but we had a dry hang out space to cook food and watch Tomb Raider on Sam’s iPad. Took a day trip to Glacier National Park, and even with a lot of the roads still closed, we were able to take the Going to the Sun main road 14 miles in. Along the way we saw some gorgeous cascades along McDonald Creek, beautiful lakes, and mountains ravaged by fires (mostly caused by lightning strikes) which created a lovely red and brown contrast to the lush new green growth and the deep blues of the mountains and skies. We forgot to get some beef though! We’d heard the angus beef was great and forgot. Next time!
