Hot Rocks: Arches
Arches
Sam found these incredible guided tours on an app called Gypsy Guide where a sweet man will tell you interesting geological and historical facts as you drive by way of geotags. It’s WONDERFUL, and we used it for Arches and learned a lot about bridges windows and different kinds of rocks. The place was PACKED as it is peak season, and the dogs were restricted to paved areas and not many at that, but we got to see the whole park, learned some new things, and found a local walking biking path outside the park for the dogs. We camped in between Arches and Canyonlands in a campground called Horsethief, and the part we were in was tents only. It was so nice not to wake up to the sound of a mobile home generator, and the dark sky was excellent for epic stars. It was HOT, and DRY, and Pearl got eaten alive by some kind of mini hostile bug but thankfully we had a dog antibiotic spray for her and it all turned out ok. Rachel made fresh smoked salmon salad with cut pears and spinach for dinner and Sam is determined to push through all the parks in Utah before heading home to CA.
