I never use to think of myself as an artist, mainly because I can’t stick to one medium. I see something and feel inspired to try my own spin on it. Or a see a technique and wonder what it would look like with a different subject matter or in a different format. Woodburning is my new favorite medium. This is my first attempt, I didn’t try shading or anything advanced, just took my time making a symmetrical design and then slowly burned in the pattern. I loved the catharsis of it! The slow steady burn and the heat combined to make something beautiful. I don’t think I’ll make prints of these. They’ll remain one of a kind pieces of my soul. This one is currently up at McClains Coffee Shop in Fullerton California. Stop by if you’re a local!
